“I decided to immerse myself into growing as a Photographer because I have a raw passion for capturing visuals and moments. It all started while I was in college. The ease of photographing the subjects came quite naturally to me and I went on with the spirit of trying to do more things in photography later on in my career.
My first camera was a Nikon DSLR which I received as a gift from my brother after he got his dream job. I started to use it and just fell in love with the process. I started clicking with my friends, family members, the sky, the leaves, and every little thing I found interesting. And that’s how I was able to develop my craft, which was all self-learned.
After I finished my Law course at the Gujarat National University, I worked with a law firm named Trilegal in Hyderabad for over a year. I later worked with Dr. Reddy’s in their legal team for over a year and simultaneously started to take up a few photography assignments on a freelance basis during my possible free time. I had a close friend of mine who wanted to get pictures taken before her wedding back then. We went to Charminar in the evening to click some lovely portraits of hers. I did that photoshoot with absolute passion and we were pretty satisfied with the outcome. That was the first assignment that I actually got paid for. It was a small amount but it was a really memorable moment for me which widened my passion to pursue photography as a mainstream career.
Soon after my daughter was born, I dedicated my time to taking care of her but at the same time, I wanted to go back to work that appeals to me; something that I can kind of create at my own pace. I took up assignments and started to shoot people and their kids. A friend of mine was keen to get her baby photographed and it all started with her. After that, there was no looking back.
It’s been close to a decade since I began my career as a professional photographer and today I have extended my passion to a lot of genres in photography. However, we predominantly focus on Portrait Photography, Maternity, Newborn, and Family videos.
Every shoot is peculiar in its own sense and it’s important for the person behind the camera to gauge what’s happening in front. For instance, when it comes to capturing children, it is important to capture expressions and candid moments rather than making them pose with a backdrop. That’s my style you know. Keeping it natural!
We started to do a lot more lifestyle photoshoots where we get an opportunity to shoot the subjects as they are. We also do short video concepts where we film children in their own environment doing their own things. Today, we do a mix of studio as well as outdoor shoots!
I am fortunate enough to have a supportive family who encouraged me all throughout my career and it certainly helped me to achieve my goals in life so far.
I have a small yet highly creative team where we curate concepts, plan the whole set-up, source, and style, and work on the shoot up until the final edits together. The process is a bit challenging, however, once all of that is done and when I sit to export the photos and videos once they’re edited – I could never be any prouder of my work.
Today, I feel proud to be called a ‘Photographer’ because nothing gives me greater happiness than being able to create art.”
