“As Haridasas, we celebrate Makar Sankranti with devotion and enthusiasm. During the festival, we walk through neighborhoods, singing Harikeerthanas—devotional songs dedicated to the divine. These tunes, filled with spiritual meaning, resonate with the positive energy of the season, bringing a spiritual touch to the community.
Balancing an ‘Akshaya Patram,’ a copper vessel, on our heads, we add a unique touch to the procession.
With ‘chidathalu’ in one hand and a tambura in the other, along with anklets (‘gajjelu’) on our feet, we walk the streets, singing soulful melodies, keertanas, and tales of Lord Mahavishnu.
During festivals like Sankranti, we hope for respect and support, whether in the form of food or money. Cherishing traditions passed down through generations, we continue to enrich the community spirit.”
