The national flag near Hussain Sagar is at half-mast today, honoring Dr. Manmohan Singh, India’s former Prime Minister, who passed away on December 26, 2024, at the age of 92. His final rites were held at Nigambodh Ghat in New Delhi, with full state honors.
Dr. Singh is remembered as the architect of India’s economic reforms in the 1990s. As Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, he played a key role in opening up India’s economy, shaping the country’s modern-day growth. But what many admired most about him was his humility, integrity, and his lifelong dedication to public service.
A seven-day mourning period has been declared nationwide, with the National flag flying at half-mast.
