“The Jouzi Halwa sweet recipe that we make has some historic significance. It is known for being the chosen delicacy of the last Nizam, Osman Ali Asaf Jah VII.
Jauzi is a spice that we import exclusively from Turkey. We mix it along with milk, ghee, sugar, saffron, and dry fruits and cook for almost 9 hours. Jouzi Ka Halwa is brought to Hyderabad by our great grandfather, Mohammad Hussain Sahab, who is the founder of “Hameedi” confectioners. He decided to put up a sweet shop with the famous dishes from Turkey. The taste of our dishes spread wide and fast across Hyderabad, even reaching the last Nizam of Hyderabad.
It did not take him long to choose the Jouzi Halwa as his favorite and in merriment, he announced the shop to be named after the Turkish last king’s nickname, Hameedi, which later came to be known as Hameedi Confectioners.
Today, we are continuing our grandfather’s legacy and we are known for making all the sweets that Hyderabad is known for. Apart from the Jouzi Halwa, we also serve Saffron Ashrafi, Badam Ke Jaali, Pure Gee Balushine, Buena peda and Halwa Sohan Tikki which exhibit true blue Hyderabadi taste and class.
Till date, we are still standing as one of the most preferred hyderabadi sweet shops for the finest quality sweets each being a representative of rich culture, originality, and true culinary masterpiece.”
