“We are a small group of travel enthusiasts who wouldn’t even wait for a long weekend to travel. But the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic has made all of us confined to our homes for more than three months and it has certainly taken a toll on our mental health.
When we heard about the Kondapochamma Sagar Reservoir from our friends, we couldn’t resist visiting this place as we were eagerly waiting for the right opportunity for a quick getaway. It’s just around 50 km from Hyderabad so we packed our bags and came here the following week. We chose a bright sunny day to visit the place, considering it was raining pretty much every day in Telangana. Honestly, we were just expecting a small reservoir, but when we reached the place, we were absolutely stunned to find an enormous water body with lush green farms on the lower side. We knew nothing about the reservoir initially but when we learned from a local official that it has a storage capacity of 15 TMC and a water spread of 17.027 sq. km, we were pleasantly surprised.
It did not seem like a place that was so close to Hyderabad. We felt like we were teleported to a whole new world altogether. Moreover, the road to this Reservoir is good and we loved the fact that cars and two-wheelers are allowed to move around on the periphery of the circular bund.
It’s a fact that tourism has the power to change lives and we must appreciate the State Government for their tremendous work in the recent past with regard to the improvement of the tourism sector in our state. It’s projects like these which improve the livelihood of people in rural areas and it certainly creates a business opportunity for many local people too. We would definitely recommend Kondapochamma Sagar to our friends and family in Hyderabad. In fact, it’s a must-visit for everyone in Telangana!”
