“Back when my father started Matwale Doodh Ghar over 50 years ago near Charminar, it was the only place around offering traditional lassi. He worked hard, teaching my brother and me the value of hard work and dedication. When we took over in 1991, it was a privilege, but also a challenge. We were determined to honor our ancestor’s legacy and maintain the high standards he had set.
Over the years, we’ve faced many challenges, but through perseverance of our team, we’ve managed to preserve and enhance our father’s vision. Friendship and respect have been crucial to our journey; our customers aren’t just patrons, they’re friends who have become part of our extended family.
One of the most important lessons we’ve learned is the importance of staying true to ourselves and our values, even as the world changes. This belief is deeply rooted in Hyderabad’s rich cultural heritage, where tradition and authenticity are cherished as essential threads of community identity. In addition to our lassi, we also serve faluda, a sweet treat that perfectly complements our offerings. Over the years, our summer specials have become synonymous with Old City street food delicacies.
As new lassi shops emerged, each offering their own twists, we remained committed to remain true and authentic with our limited menu. We’ve learned that success isn’t just about following trends; it’s about staying true to who we are.
And amidst the sweltering Hyderabad summer, our lassi and faluda have not only quenched thirst but also symbolized the enduring friendship, and cultural richness of our Hyderabad.”
