“I was a very competitive kid, but I was always fascinated by one thing, stories & poems, the beauty in narrating these!
Storytelling for me is not to put huge climaxes or great vocabulary in place but to narrate in a way which the listener/ reader can just imagine it in front of their eyes.
I used to share short stories with my friends and recite poems as a child. I found rhyming words very wonderful and the similar sounds they have. I also believe all these came to me from my paternal grandfather or maternal grandmother- both of them are exemplary poets in Telugu and have won awards.
My first book, The Verdict, came out of my passion to tell a college love story to my readers, the nuances of hostel life, the money crunches which a student faces, the innocent friendships, the story has it all. Then comes, Aryaputra, it is a very well knitted fictional story having multiple characters with a strong storyline. For Aryaputra, I had put in a lot of hardwork. I researched about many mythological aspects which match with modern science and knitted this storyline. This is one book which a reader would not forget if they read once, I definitely can bet on that! The story of Aryaputra has all my heart.
But the growing digital transformation has reduced the number of readers. We see stories in bits and pieces. Our concentration span has reduced to seconds and minutes. I’ve started to digest the fact that my aim is not to write books but to narrate beautiful stories, I’m a storyteller. I am trying to change the pattern through which I narrate my stories.
As a management grad, it is not difficult for me to handle my hobby and my profession together.
I’ve gone through challenges, time when I told myself, why should I even write stories when the readership is so less, but for those who read, be it 10, 20 or 50, I’m making an impact. And I shall continue to do this.
Having said that, it’s not very easy too, I travel, travel gives me stories to narrate. I meet beautiful people, hear them out, their stories make me imagine, I can knit stories out of a travel, I feel it’s liberating.
I want to tell more stories, especially of those which have more connection to modern day science and our ancient culture. There are so many practices which this generation has just put aside in the name of superstition which actually have scientific value! I want to share these. I wanna narrate them so these make an impact in our society!”
