“I hail from the Kothagudem region of Telangana and almost 32 years of my life so far has been spent working in the coal mines. I am proud to be addressed as a Singareni coal mine worker.

Being a coalmine worker isn’t easy. However, we work with courage and unity. I started my career in this field with a basic stream of work as a Badli filler (mazdoor) and then got promoted to a higher post after several years of hard work. Now I am serving as the mining Operator.

I am only one of the several thousands of workers in Singareni Collieries who work hard under extreme conditions to extract coal. I have had my share of difficulties being a coal miner but what I am proud of is the spirit of our workers’ union who are always on the go despite the challenges faced by the coal miners.

While the benefits of coal are countless, I agree with the fact that coal mining is an environmentally degrading activity.

However, the SCCL under the State Government’s purview has been doing several environment-friendly practices and tree plantation initiatives to mitigate the damage and improve the quality of life.

Apart from our everyday work, we are fortunate to be a part of yearly sporting activities where we compete in national tournaments of various sports.

Today, I am happy to represent our company in the Senior Tennis Men’s Tournament and we look forward to bringing accolades to our state.”
