“No matter what we run into or how hard things get, I will always be with you until my last breath.” This is the promise I had made to her when we both decided to get married to each other.

Ours is a simple story. We knew each other since childhood as we both were family friends from the same village in Rajasthan. I first met her as a young boy when I used to play with friends near the stepwell at her place. We used to see each other every day as she would come there for water along with her sister.

When I first communicated with her after a month, she did not respond immediately. As time went by, our fondness for each other couldn’t go unacknowledged and she finally agreed to my proposal. It was a rollercoaster ride later until we finally got married after nine years with the acceptance of our parents.

When it comes to our survival, we make toys and sell them at traffic signals in different cities. Even though we earn meagre, we are happy with our work. Yes, we have our own set of troubles right from taking care of our family to selling toys in extreme weather conditions but that doesn’t deter us from going forward in life. If you ask me, the only special part about our story is in the word ‘trust.’ Yes, we had always stayed together with trust and helped each other with hope for a better tomorrow because that’s the only thing that lasted through the years.”
