“My name is Faridah Lakhani. I currently work at the Aga Khan Academy, Hyderabad as a learning enrichment teacher. I have been a part of the network for a little over 11 years now and am very proud of the work we have done. The academies vision aligns with my values of pluralism and improving oneself by constantly learning and growing as an individual in all aspects of life.

Talking about my life in 2022, the year started quite memorably with a trip to Dubai with my brother and my sis in law, Michele. This was the first time we were vacationing together in a different country and we had a wonderful time showing them our favourite spots and exploring new ones.

I also began taking a more serious approach towards the environmental crisis at hand by following more eco friendly home approaches and attending seminars and conferences that will help shape our future.

Lastly and most recently I turned 50 years old which marks a milestone in my life. My husband and I celebrated together and we had a wonderful time. This year I found myself reflecting on the past and learning from it. The most famously asked question, “If you could redo life, what would you do differently?” keeps being asked and has me thinking long and hard about my past 50 years.

To answer truthfully, I wouldn’t change anything in my life. Of course there are a few things I would do better than I did in the past, but that’s only because I’ve lived through them and learned my mistakes. Most importantly I have to give thanks to God for this life he has given me and how very blessed I am. A few of those blessings include my wonderful husband of almost 30 years, who will always be my rock and anchor in my life. Of course I cannot forget my children who are and will always be my pride and joy.

I just hope everyone continues to better themselves by learning continuously and have a wonderful new year 2023 ahead.”
