“As a child, I was a very shy person, insecure with a major inferiority complex. I was a little bit of a nerd but did manage to kind of balance out of my life to an extent. I would consciously choose to host shows, etc. at my college so that I could have the courage to face large audiences and overcome my stage fear. In that sense, Instagram has helped me to break out of my shell and show a side of me which not many have seen before.
Food is something that gives me immense joy. It’s like an instant mood elevator. As a food blogger, it’s not easy to grab attention and stand out from others. Personally, as I have multiple hats to adorn, it’s a little difficult for me to find time to shoot and edit content as I do everything myself. Plus the combination of being a foodie and having a sensitive stomach, don’t go down too well. Hence I refrain from having a lot of street food but occasionally do take the risk after popping in a sporlac.
Well, being an Orthodontist by profession and food blogger by passion, my daily schedule involves attending patients shooting content, attending food reviewing sessions, editing and posting content, brainstorming ideas for the next set of reels, baking and taking orders for my baking venture Le Tesoro, shooting content for bridal bug, and also guiding and teaching students in my coaching institute. Yep, that pretty much fills up my entire day.
I chose Orthodontics & Dentofacial orthopaedics as my speciality because it seemed challenging and intriguing to align people’s teeth and jaws. Enhancing someone’s smile is so rewarding. My patients can’t stop beaming once their braces are off and that just makes it all worth it.
One of the highest points in my life definitely would be securing 1st rank in the state MDS entrance exam. I had an intense preparation phase with long hours of studying every day and managing my internship simultaneously.
It took a lot of sacrifices to achieve that feat and ironically one of my lowest phases was also during this phase where a lot of anxiety, self-doubt crept in. I would just randomly break down mentally because the pressure was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before.
My family and I had to take a trip to England a few months before my entrance and I was petrified to go as I didn’t want to lose my chances at cracking the seat. So I packed a suitcase full of books and carried them with me to England. Yep, that’s the dedication one requires perhaps (laughs).
However, I must say that my parents are my role models. They both have worked hard to give us a comfortable life by making so many sacrifices. It’s something a child can never repay. They’ve taught me to be persistent, righteous, and be compassionate towards others. I strive every day so that I can now take up the baton and give them some time off where they can finally relax and age beautifully.
Talking about food, I personally love Mughlai and Chinese (Indian Chinese if I may say), chicken 65 being my go-to option. I’ve travelled to a few countries like England, Malaysia, Thailand, and Turkey. Turkish food was something that won my heart out of all. The flavours, texture of the meat are something which I couldn’t find anywhere else. The dishes taste even better when you are surrounded by such picturesque settings.
Being a Hyderabadi myself, I love to have Haleem, Biryani, Marag, Chicken 65, Chai, Qubani ka meetha, Khatti daal, Talawa gosht, Khichdi Khatta Kheema combo among many others.
Life lessons? Well, don’t just blindly chase happiness and money. Learn to enjoy the moment you are in. Perfection is a myth. Embrace yourself and try to be the best version of yourself. No one knows how long one is going to live. So truly cherish every day, be grateful and not take things for granted. If you are passionate about something and your parents aren’t getting it, It’s ok, cut them some slack. It’ll take time for them to understand as they are from another generation and for their minds to comprehend some unconventional/risky choices is not easy.
With time they will get it and be happy for you. And if you feel that you haven’t figured out life, don’t worry at all. Trust me you will get there and it’ll all make sense. We all are in this together. Sometimes what we set out to achieve may not be something we do for the rest of our lives. Take a deep breath and just go for it.”
