“Honestly speaking, I did not fall in love with my kids the first time I saw them. The idea of motherhood that we have been implanted with, is an illusion. The struggles are many, they are hard and you are not crazy to think so. It’s never going to be all rainbows and butterflies.
I am an architect by profession, a teacher by passion and an accidental writer. But the minute I gave birth to my twins in 2013, which, by the way, was double the pain and efforts, everything else became secondary. I am a now mommy blogger and my first blog was titled ‘I Don’t Enjoy Every Moment Of Motherhood, and That’s Okay’.
Back in 2015, there were not many people in India who blogged about the reality of Motherhood and it was a necessity. Because, none of us are actually ever ready to face all the challenges that come with it and that results in a lot of problems such as depression and anxiety. Motherhood is beautiful, but the struggle is what makes it complete. I am fiercely ambitious and I decided, if I have to work, I can. But I knew that my children were my priority. I did everything in my capacity to bring them up as good humans and my family was a huge support throughout.
At the end of the day, when your kid walks up to you and says ‘I love you mamma’ , you know it’s all worth it. Motherhood is unpredictable and the sooner you accept that, the better. It is not a job only done by the mother but also includes equal contribution from the father.
Motherhood taught me that life isn’t a bed of roses. There are mind numbing times and it’s okay to vent out and not feel good all the time. Seeing your kids grow into good humans beings in whom you have vested the power of perpetual trust, shows you that you’ve made it. Stronger than ever. We are Wonderwomen and no one can tell you otherwise!”
