“Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho, toh poori kainath use tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai: Bus yahi hui meri zindagi mein! I decided to become an RJ in class 9. My family was super supportive. I joined an RJ course, did my masters in Mass Communication and here I am. It’s amazing how people listen to you and you have the power to influence or inspire them. I’ve had instances where my callers have sent pizza and drinks because I said I was craving for it on air. The love you receive makes you feel special. But there are people who say negative things too. Social media trolls and unnecessary messages are always coming. When I participated in MTV’s Dating in the Dark, I received really annoying texts about how I should behave like a good Bharatiya Naari. When the comment or degree of insensitivity is high, you should always report. I have filed so many cybercrime cases against such men. We have a supportive police department. They can help us only when we approach them. Irrespective of the profession, every girl faces harassment or abuse. We should never be scared of reporting such crimes. What’s the fear? Don’t care about the society. It’s about your safety and punishing the criminals. There’s no reason why you shouldn’t open up. I think every girl should be taught to be strong and vocal about her opinions. The world is challenging and competitive. We should be ready for it. I was taught all of this while growing up. My father passed away even before I was born. My mother and sister have been my family. They are strong independent woman and I am what I am because of them. I’ve got my strength and courage from them. They’re my world!”
