“Pups really do change your life and having them in my life is the best decision I ever made.. My name is Sruthi and I am the founder of Paw Kingdom. I grew up in Hyderabad and Vijayawada then moved to the US as a teenager. My father is an IT professional. I lost my mother when I was very young, and I also have a brother. I started my career as a IT business analyst then as a project manager for several years. Working as an IT professional is really something that made me financially independent gave me the autonomy to make decisions and I feel it’s really important for every woman to be in that position.
I always wanted to come back to India and settle down here. The affection of a family is something that I always wanted. My journey with pups started when I was just visiting a kennel in the US, this sweet pup just walked towards me and it felt like she chose me rather than I choosing her, nevertheless from there on my life totally changed. After a year, I adopted another pup and when I moved back to India last year I brought them along with me, they are afterall my kids.
Speaking about the idea of starting my own Pup Care Centre, I like traveling a lot but in some cases, we cannot take our Pups with us.
Subsequently, I used to visit many Pup Care Centers but most of them were outdoors, not very supervised, and unhygienic. I didnt feel the existing options in Hyderabad are suitable for my pups. So I was highly motivated to start a facility I felt would be a good alternative for pet parents like me. That’s how the Paw Kingdom started with modern indoor facilities for pups that are supervised and hygienic. I want to mention a special Thanks to Keerthi Tummala who guided and helped me with starting up my business. It’s important to have women helping other women become entrepreneurs.
People have to consider different things when deciding to get a Pup. It totally depends on the owner’s choices. Having said that, there are many people who also adopt stray dogs and that’s very kind of them. We see many stray dogs dying roadside without food and some even get killed due to various reasons. One solution for this is to have a Care Centre where they can be brought, fed, rehabilitated and given for adoption. That’s a good way to decrease the number of stray dogs and finding them good families. In the coming years, I want to expand my business and start a rehabilitation option as well for adoptions.”
