“My parents always said “Being born in a country that is so rich in its heritage and culture, it is our duty to make the most of it and give it back to society to pass it down.”
Having been born and brought up in the country that birthed yoga, my parents encouraged me to learn yoga and spiritual practices from a very young age.
When I was first introduced to yoga, I was fascinated by the physical form of it, by all the crazy postures, by all the shapes you can train your body to form. It was only under the guidance of my wonderful teacher that I realized that yoga is much more than just physical movements.
It is about experiencing infinity, and creates a deep connection with yourself and everything around you. It is a union into harmony. It is so vast and enlivening, that you just have to step into it to experience it.
That is when I started my true journey as a yoga practitioner. In addition to attaining my accounting degree, I have completed qualified certifications in Hatha yoga, Ashtanga yoga, and have been internationally certified through Registered Yoga School 350 hour teacher training from Sri Sri School of Yoga in Bangalore.
When it came to my career, I chose yoga over accounting as that is where my true passion lies. I started taking workshops in schools, free yoga classes for senior citizens, free yoga classes for underprivileged kids in schools, and yoga for women.
I thought of how much my teacher inspired me, and decided that I want to educate people about the true meaning of yoga, just like she did. To spread my love for yoga, and continue my pursuit of passion, I decided to make the move from India to Canada. I have worked with various clients with different needs. My favorite place on earth is now the place where people gather together to break a sweat, focus on their breathing, and most importantly break their emotional, spiritual and physical boundaries collectively through the power of yoga. All these spiritual practices were integrated into all aspects of my life and moulded me into the person I am today. I truly believe yoga is my superpower, and has made me a superwoman.”
