“We began our volunteering journey with a simple goal: to address the issue of food wastage while helping those in need. It all started when a few of us noticed how much food was being wasted, while so many people went hungry. This realization inspired us to take action, and that’s how ‘Don’t Waste Food’ was born.
Right now, as severe floods continue to affect Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, our volunteers are on the ground, providing not just food but also essential relief materials to the flood affected areas like Khammam, and the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The work we do isn’t always easy. Whether we’re organizing food drives or responding to volunteering efforts during disasters, each hurdle we’ve faced has only made us more determined to keep going.
Initially, it was just a handful of us, collecting extra food from events and distributing it to underprivileged communities. Over time, this small initiative grew into a larger movement. We built a network across cities, utilizing WhatsApp and Facebook groups to efficiently manage collections and distributions. What once seemed like a simple idea has now become a daily operation that helps feed homeless individuals, low-income families, and orphanages.
Our volunteers are the backbone of this initiative. They work tirelessly, often late into the night, to ensure that every meal collected reaches those who need it most. It’s not just about providing food; it’s about connecting with people and offering hope. Each volunteer, donor, and supporter plays a crucial role in what we’ve achieved. We’re proving that real change comes from taking responsibility and acting with purpose. And that’s something we’re incredibly proud of.”
