“Belonging to a tier 2 city like Warangal, I wasn’t exposed to the different cultures and trends during my growing up years. However, my parents worked hard to educate me and my brother in good Universities.
After my Bachelor’s course, I went to the United Kingdom to pursue my Master’s course in Management at the University of East London in 2007-2008. It was the time when The Lehman Brothers bankruptcy kicked off the financial crunch and the recession that followed resulted in the job crisis. But, I worked my way out to sustain myself back then. I used to do multiple jobs back then along with my course and thankfully, because of the eminent people I met there, I was able to get along well in life. I continued my work in the management sector in the United Kingdom for four years and later, I migrated to UAE and worked as an Operations Manager. I moved back to Hyderabad in 2018.
Coming back to my work in cycling, I am the core member of Relief Riders Hyderabad and also Happy Hyderabad. We have conducted various initiatives through Relief Riders Hyderabad during the Covid 19 lockdown. The second wave of the Covid Lockdown has been particularly hard on the elderly, who found it difficult to manage their daily needs and procure essentials. We had worked extensively in providing essential supplies like medicines and groceries to senior citizens in the city.
My mentors for life that has changed whom I am today are Mr. Adrain Paul , Director for London , Okeefe. Mr. Ihab Mouallem, CEO , NPCO. Mr. Santhana Selvan , Sr Manager , Reckitt , Bicycle Mayor of Hyderabad.
Relief Riders Hyderabad today is a platform where we have a network of over 250 volunteers who participated in various relief activities.
Talking about the Happy Hyderabad group, it is aimed at Happiness all the time for all the members and all the people around.
Mr. Santhana Selvan, the bicycle Mayor of Hyderabad, Mr. Dinesh, Ms. Anjani and I along with other community members have been conducting various social initiatives through Happy Hyderabad like cycling, running, swimming, football, trekking, and also a few other adventure and exploration programs, including the charity initiatives.
We, as the community of Happy Hyderabad and Relief Riders, are not only aiming to make people use bicycles but also working hard in reducing the carbon dioxide emissions to the planet. So far, I feel happy that we are able to demonstrate the power and resilience of bicycling in the state which certainly helps to mitigate the climate crisis. Our common aim is to make 50% of transportation of each individual around 5 km radium to ride on a bicycle in Hyderabad and we are working our way in achieving our goal!”
