“Every year, as Maha Shivratri approaches, we, the GHMC workers, prepare to sweep the main roads near Keesara Gutta. It’s a big event with thousands of devotees coming from different regions to pay their respects.
Our job may seem simple—just sweeping the streets—but it’s important. We want everything to be clean and tidy for the visitors.
Sometimes, people get frustrated with us, thinking we’re in their way. But we just keep working, knowing we’re doing our part to keep our city clean.
The best part? Seeing our kids proud of what we do. They tell their friends with such excitement that their moms are the ones making sure the streets are clean.
On Women’s Day, we want to celebrate all the women like us who work hard behind the scenes. We may not always get noticed, but we know we’re making a difference.
So here’s to us, the unsung heroes of the streets, sweeping away the dirt and spreading a little bit of goodness wherever we go.”
