“Growing up in the vibrant city of Kolkata, I always felt like life was a grand adventure waiting to unfold. From a young age, I possessed an insatiable curiosity and a deep-seated belief that my life was meant to be extraordinary. Inspired by the selfless work of Mother Teresa, I dreamed of dedicating myself to helping the underprivileged, particularly children in need.
One of the defining moments of my childhood was the discovery of the meaning behind my name, Sunpreet. It symbolized treating everyone equally, like sunshine warming everyone’s life. This revelation ignited a fire within me, and I resolved to be the sunshine in people’s lives, spreading warmth and kindness wherever I went.
Visiting the Missionaries of Charity at the tender age of eleven left an indelible mark on my heart. Witnessing the plight of orphans, I made a solemn promise to myself to work tirelessly and one day adopt all the children in need of care. This experience solidified my commitment to empowering those around me, especially the marginalized and underprivileged.
As I embarked on my journey into adulthood, I pursued my passion for art, culture, and heritage. I founded my own brand, “Sunpret,” with a vision to blend traditional craftsmanship with contemporary fashion. Specializing in men’s fashion, Sunpret aimed to redefine menswear fashion while preserving our rich cultural heritage.
However, my path took an unexpected turn when I realized the hardships faced by artisans and weavers due to the fast fashion industry.
Determined to be their voice, I launched initiatives to support and uplift these artisans, ultimately founding “Pure Desi by Sunpret.” This venture not only empowered women across the country but also provided a platform for showcasing our rich cultural heritage to the world.
Motherhood brought its own set of challenges, including a battle with postpartum depression during my second pregnancy. Through therapy and self-reflection, I learned to navigate the complexities of motherhood while staying true to myself. In 2019, I took to social media to share my journey, aiming to create awareness about self-love and mental health as tumhari_sunshine.
The COVID-19 pandemic presented new obstacles, but it also served as an opportunity for creative expression. Leveraging humor and relatability, I used social media to connect with my audience and spread positivity during challenging times.
Balancing entrepreneurship with motherhood has been a constant juggling act, but with the unwavering support of my family, I’ve learned to find harmony amidst chaos. My children, in particular, have been my greatest cheerleaders, understanding the demands of my work and taking pride in my accomplishments.
As an influencer, I strive to use my platform to empower women and uplift marginalized communities. Whether attending events or creating content, I prioritize moments that align with my values and allow me to make a meaningful impact.
Looking ahead, my aspirations are twofold: to continue advocating for women’s empowerment and to preserve and promote our rich cultural heritage. Through dedication, perseverance, and unwavering belief in myself and my dreams, I am committed to lighting the path for others and leaving behind a legacy of empowerment and resilience.”
