“We start our days early in the morning at 5. We’ve been farmers for almost 50 years now, and it’s what we’ve always loved doing.
We grew up in a small village, Ramaram, near the outskirts of Hyderabad. Our families knew each other well, but getting married at a young age was unexpected. It took some getting used to, but his kindness and patience made it all work.
With three acres of land where we grow vegetables and pulses, we spend our days side by side, taking care of our cattle. Our routine may seem monotonous to some, but at this stage of life, being able to lead a happy life together is a blessing.
Evenings are our favorite time. We sit under the big mango tree with a cup of tea and watch the sun go down. It’s a simple life, but it’s ours. Sure, we argue sometimes, but at the end of the day, the love and trust between us keeps us going.
We’ve faced tough times—droughts, flash floods, losses while doing agriculture—but facing them together makes us stronger.
Our children moved to the city for better opportunities, but they visit often. They say our farm is their motherland, a place to reconnect with their roots. Seeing them happy and successful brings us immense joy. Despite their full-time jobs, they still find time for farming.
One day, if we get the chance, I’d love to take my wife on a tour of spiritual places across India. It’s a dream we share, and who knows? Maybe we’ll make it happen, soon.”
