“I would say the best combination to eat jonna rotte (jowar roti) is with the country chicken curry for non-vegetarians and onion and tomato curry for vegetarians.
I have a distinct memory of my mom taking me to the kitchen and teaching me to make jowar rotis during my childhood. It’s famous in Telangana region. Women in our community were taught to perfect the art of making these round rotis through wood fire and it’s the perfect food for a healthy lifestyle.
Earlier, I used to work at a construction site on a daily wage basis but I wasn’t able to earn enough to educate my children and support my family. I took a break for a while from work and thought to start something small on my own. And that’s how the idea of selling jowar rotis came into my mind. It’s been almost three years since I started this business and with the support of my customers, I am able to sell around 70-80 rotis every day. It helps to make ends meet and I am happy to be able to promote age-old healthy eating habits.
