“Why does the Judiciary of India give so many chances to the culprits involved in heinous crimes like these? Due to this, delivery of justice is delayed every single time. It angers me. One of the most important pillars of our country remains erratic, under-staffed and above all, slow and sluggish. The brutal rape case from 7 years back that jarred the consciousness of the entire nation, continues till today. Despite the fast tracking in courts, conviction of the accused and delivery of death sentence, the culprits walk comfortably even today. Such is the state of a ‘rarest of rare’ case, how can we be expected to rest assured!?
It’s shocking that even on 22nd January 2020, when the convicts’ death penalty was due to be executed, it will not be happening because one of them filed a mercy plea. It’s almost as though cases getting shut and justice being served has become a rare occurrence in our country. Appeals, remands, reviews and so on, even in such gruesome, inexcusable happenings shake the spirit of the nation. I wish justice is served at the earliest to everyone who is patiently waiting in hope, especially those who lost their lives fighting for it, like Nirbhaya.”
