“For the first few years of my life, I didn’t take my life and career seriously. I only cared about playing around with friends until I began to understand the financial problems of my family. Things turned upside down in no time and I was forced to take the responsibility of earning myself at the age of 15. It wasn’t easy at all. Initially, nothing felt right and survival was tough.I had done several odd jobs before starting my handcrafted business 35 years ago. I started to sell these toys in my hometown Mysuru initially. But now I travel across different states in India to sell these handcrafted wooden toys. Not every day is fruitful in this line of business. There was a time when I used to make these toys only to earn a living. Thankfully, those days of struggle are gone and by God’s grace, I’ve earned enough to live life peacefully. But I continue to make and sell them because I enjoy this business. I believe that till the time I’m strong and healthy enough to work, I should do it. What’s the point of sitting at home, when you have the strength to travel around and meet new people? Whether you’re in your 20’s or 70’s, the purpose is to live life to the fullest. I’ve always done that!.
