Every year, we dress up in traditional attire to participate in the rituals, which feels like a connection to our heritage.

Bonalu’s history is deeply rooted in our city’s culture. In the 18th century, a deadly plague swept through Hyderabad, and our ancestors sought Goddess Mahankali’s protection. When the plague subsided, they vowed to honor her annually, and we continue this tradition to this day. Bonalu is a celebration of our identity, our culture, and it’s an honor to carry forward the tradition with the same enthusiasm every year.”
