“It’s hard to believe it’s already been over 25 years since we began Sri Nava Durga Navratri Utsav at the Chaderghat area, Hyderabad. What started as a modest pandal has grown into one of the biggest Navratri celebrations in Hyderabad, and I truly believe it’s Mata’s blessings that keep us going strong every year.

I’m Gulab Srinivas, organiser and community leader of Sri Nava Durga Navratri Utsav. From the very first year, our goal has been to create a space where people can come together in devotion, share in cultural programmes, and celebrate Navratri with respect for tradition and the environment.

Now in our 26th year, we’re unveiling a 72-foot eco-friendly Durga Mata idol near Victory Playground—our tallest and most intricate idol yet. Crafted completely with natural clay and biodegradable colours, it stands as a symbol of faith and responsibility. Weeks of preparation have gone into the decorations, vibrant lighting, and nightly aarti so that every visitor can experience the festive spirit.

What we love most about this celebration is that it’s not just about the grandeur of the idol; it’s about reconnecting with our faith and strengthening the bonds of community. We continue to follow strict eco-friendly practices, including a no-plastic policy, so the festival remains safe for the environment.

For us, the Dussehra festival is about faith, community participation and keeping a tradition alive in a responsible way. With Mata’s blessings and the continued support of Hyderabad residents, we hope to carry this forward for many more years to come.”
