‘’I was a tomboy all through my high school, somebody who was not feminine in her dressing sense. But I loved the idea of dressing up. My love for fashion made me realize how versatile it is. Fashion Blogging was never on my to-do list.
My passion for writing and the idea of sharing my knowledge led me to realize that fashion could be my forte after all. And while Instagram started blooming for content creators, and viewers wanted to see something more of this sort, I decided to step up and start blogging.
School was never that great for me. It was a tough chapter in my life as a teenager, during which I began to face a lot of criticism about my skin tone and texture. It was a period when most of us go downhill with our emotions. I did too. But, if I considered those statements and let them pull my conviction down, I would have never dug my heels in otherwise.
I appreciate the bloggers who are making the effort of bringing in some color and zazz to the fashion industry on social media. I believe we fashion bloggers are stepping out of our shells and have chosen the path of content creators who aim to take fashion a heel higher. For us, it is always a new affair when it comes to clothing.
I feel our viewers do have certain kinds of assumptions when it comes to the concept of fashion blogging. They are not quite sure about the kind of content we are trying to orchestrate through the platform. It is always linked to something external. For instance, I was asked by a lot of viewers and my followers whether I was planning on taking up acting or modeling as my career option just because I am a “fashion blogger” which is not true.
But I am glad due to the lockdown, people are open to the idea of fashion blogging and the trend we are mounting.
The various fields of creativity our viewers and consumers are open to depend on two major pillars, Trust and Recommendations.
Making my way through, as a fashion blogger. The path has churned me into a stronger woman mentally and physically. It has shaped my entrepreneurial skills, something no educational institution gives exposure to. It is achieved by sheer interest and experience.
I have learned to take criticism positively. Mentally one should be prepared to go through all kinds of emotions on this platform. When I just started my journey as a blogger, I did get rejected by many well-known fashion designers from Hyderabad merely because of my skin and physical appearance.
Working my fingers to the bone, I gave it back to them with the realm I have created for myself. Now they are the ones wishing to work with me. The downright passion I have for what I do and the zeal to never give up is what keeps me going and getting better by the day.
I am proud of the work I do and the way I have improved bit by bit. Getting featured for two magazine covers in 2020, or when I have people walk up to me and appreciate my work, I am elated that the creative hat I chose to put on myself is getting recognized.
Society believes in the concept of perfection and I am someone who just does not believe in that idea. I still have a long way to go as a content creator and a fashion blogger. And I am nowhere close to the word “perfect”. I am still imperfect and I am proud of it.
