The great Tamarind tree, located in Osmania General Hospital, Afzajgunj had saved at least 150 lives during the Musi floods of 1908.
A solidarity meeting was organized under the same savior tree by Forum For A Better Hyderabad in association with the Centre for Deccan Studies (CDS) and Deccan Heritage Trust (DHT) to pay homage to the 1908 Musi flood victims.

In the year 1908, a devastating flood hit Hyderabad that shattered the lives of people residing in Hyderabad.
After heavy rainfall, the Musi River overflowed its banks and the city was flooded with water. It is estimated that over 15,000 people were killed while several thousands were displaced in this flooding. Unfortunately, several people were washed away during the floods, while over 150 people managed to get hold of the tamarind tree that saved them from washing away.
