“When I decided to set up my own Yoga studio along with my business partners, my parents were a little sceptical about my career choices. However, I managed to gain their trust within few months of my training.
I had done my yoga teachers training from the art of living at the age of 21 and after my graduation, I ventured into Yoga training. I realised that it’s not just physical fitness that is important but also how mental awareness and well being could be achieved with yoga. That’s where the idea of starting a yoga centre stemmed from.
Back then, I was also working with a Corporate company as a yoga trainer and simultaneously running a yoga centre. We have conducted the art of living programs across different parts of the country including the training sessions in the schools and colleges. But when the pandemic struck the country in March, last year, it was a big setback for every one of us. COVID-19 has not only turned people’s worlds upside down, but it has also forced people to reimagine the daily activities that they were accustomed to. However, I decided to go online within two weeks of a pandemic to take my training forward. I am also a professionally trained Carnatic singer, so I have even started conducting music classes online.
I had just posted few posts on social media but to my surprise, I got a tremendous response from my clients, not only from the city but across many regions in the world. My students didn’t want to miss out on a single session and it was they who insisted that I should start giving classes through Zoom video call. It was a new thing for all of us, but we quickly adapted to the new normal and we are enjoying it.
Right now, I have eight batches of classes in a day out of which five are catered for the music sessions and three for yoga. From kids to youngsters and senior citizens, I train yoga and music to all age groups. The classes are designed in such a manner that they are safe and purposeful for everyone.
During my stint as a yoga and music teacher, I have noticed that fine arts as well as the importance of health and wellness have been gaining immense popularity nowadays. Some are particularly driven by the importance of health especially in the current pandemic scenario while others are simply taken in by improving their skill sets during their free time. I truly believe that there should be a balance between the both and I am glad that I am able to train many students across the world today.
I would like to thank my parents, my teacher, friends and well-wishers who have been a tremendous support throughout. I believe it’s just the beginning and I wish to continue my journey as a teacher and support my students to achieve their goals.”
