“Safe and Healthy Environment for Women. That’s the aim of SHE Teams. Our force, consisting of both men and women, goes incognito to identify and patrol assault prone public areas. We have teams deployed in multiple public places- around colleges, parks, temples, exhibitions, festival celebrations etc to make sure that women feel safe and go about with their regular lives undeterred by fear. Hotspots, or areas where women might feel more vulnerable to eve teasing or other harassment are frequently, scientifically patrolled. Smartphones also have an important role to play. While our teams record the evidence of any unwanted happenings on their phones, people can use their smartphones to lodge complaints, share inputs and use the SOS feature through the HawkEye App. All our facilities are integrated in order to allow quick and efficient response in times of distress. The perpetrators identified by our teams are taken to the closest police stations and dealt with in the presence of their families. These men, whether counselled or booked, are monitored in the future. The issues are dealt with great care. We ensure that privacy of the complainant is maintained. Having succeeded in Hyderabad in the last 5 years, SHE Teams is being replicated in other Telangana districts as well. Together, we aim at improving the presence of women in open areas, through an increased sense of security.”
