“For a long time, the transgender community has faced a lack of job opportunities and exclusion. But now, we’ve come together to start our own ventures. We’ve been given a permanent stall and a trolley stand at the newly opened Charlapally Railway Terminal station, a place where we can showcase our work and be seen for who we are.
At our stall, we offer a range of products created by members of our community. I run a snack business, selling crispy treats that I make myself. It’s fulfilling to share something I’m passionate about with everyone who stops by. I also run a YouTube Channel named Janam Tho Jasmine and I look forward to creating more content which inspires and empowers our community.
Tripura and Sahasra, two talented transwomen, make handmade jute bags. Each one is unique, showing our strength and creativity.
Kiran Raj, a transman, makes soaps. His work shows the skill within our community, and I’m happy to have his soaps at our stall.
Having a permanent stall at Charlapally Railway Terminal is more than just selling products. It’s an opportunity for us to be visible, interact with the public, and show that we’re capable of much more than people realize. The stall and trolley are symbols of our progress toward equality and recognition.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the support of people like my close friend Varghese, Mukunda Mala madam, Rachana Mudraboyina garu, and support of Montfort Social Institute along with the Trans Equality Society who are in a mission to empower and uplift the transgender persons in the country. They’ve worked hard to make this happen, and I’m really grateful for their efforts. I am also grateful for the Railway officials, the state and central government for this and we expect more initiatives in the future.
This is just the beginning, and we’re excited for what comes next. Every step forward reminds us of how far we’ve come, and I’m looking forward to the future.”
