“Since I was a child, nothing interested me more than food. Every school day, I would count the days until the next summer vacation. I’d eagerly wait to visit my grandparents at the village and spend time at their fields, learning everything about organic farming and enjoying the fruits.
Even when my mother tried to teach household chores to my sister and me, it was cooking that attracted me the most. As I grew older, I was drawn towards eating healthy and fresh. This drove me to pursuing a masters in Nutrition and Public Health from Toronto. Even during the course, I enjoyed sharing my knowledge on lifestyle wellness, health, nutrition and organic foods with everyone else who shared this interest. I learnt that almost everything can be healed with the right combination of food, love and care, be it a human or soil! Food can keep you physically well, leading to your mental well-being. Similarly, when soil loses it’s fertility, food waste can be used in a compost pit to revive the nutrients of the soil. That is the power of the right food.
With time, my food choices evolved, to get healthier and smarter everyday. Learning about what I was eating allowed me to learn about myself. Even when I was planning on having a child at 35, I realised that both mine and my husband’s well-being is necessary for atleast a year before the pregnancy. So we took the step and enhanced our choices from good to the best, to prepare our bodies physically and mentally, to become parents. From food to fitness, we kept it all in check.
But when we moved back to India a few years after the birth of my son, I was in for a shock. I couldn’t find appropriate food for my family. At Canada, our family had gotten accustomed to eating clean, organic food, something I couldn’t find here. At the same time, I saw many misconceptions about diets in India. I wanted to tackle both issues and what started with a small group of friends slowly expanded into a full fledged business. Today, I have come back to my roots with a purpose I enjoy and I couldn’t have been more thankful for how things turned out.”
