“There was a time when celebrities like Nagarjuna and Chiranjeevi had come to taste our tiffin. I remember being at the shop and suddenly, people gathered because they spotted film actors were here. It was surreal! I grew up watching their films and they were in front of me trying our specialities. That’s just one of the big days – we’ve had many comedians, villains and actresses also come to our stalls – Old City and Sindhi Colony.

When my father started it more than 50 years ago in Old City, he never expected it to be the kind of hit is it now. It was a source of income and there wasn’t a better way than make delicious tiffins that we’re good at. Today, my two brothers and I handle different branches and serve the best of dosas, idlis and vadas for our patrons. Over the years, the only thing that has changed is the demand for fusion dishes like Schezwan and Cheese items. Back in the day, people preferred podi and sambar. Whether it’s authentic or fusion dishes, we always have been consistent with our taste and quality and that’s why people still come back to us. That’s something we’re proud of, as a family.”
