“I spent most of my childhood in an ashram school, right from Class 1 to Class 10. It’s where I made some of my closest friends and did everything from school plays to random class experiments. Looking back, we never planned anything big. We were just kids enjoying the moment.
Permit Room, our podcast, wasn’t even my idea. It started when my friend Vijit Ani came to me saying he wanted to do a podcast in Telugu. A small bunch of us sat down and slowly started building the idea. It took us around five months to figure out what exactly we wanted it to be. The only thing we knew for sure was that we wanted it to feel real — like casual conversations, not interviews.
We mix Telugu and English a lot on the podcast because that’s how we speak in real life too. In school, we were always told to speak in English, but honestly, we express ourselves better in our own language. So we kept it natural. Over time, hosting this podcast has taught me a lot — about people and about myself.
I’ve spoken to over 75 guests so far. Some episodes really surprised me, especially with guests I didn’t know much about at first. I learned things I never expected. Honestly, I don’t even consider myself a great podcaster, but I’ve grown with each episode. I’m still learning.
Movies were also a huge part of my life. In school, watching films was kind of restricted, so naturally, I got obsessed. I was part of fan associations, shouting at cutouts, attending first-day-first-shows — full-on madness. That love pushed me toward writing, theatre, and eventually into doing creative things like this.
Today, Permit Room is more than just a podcast. We’ve started making short films too, like Pinky Promise. We also recently began a new initiative to bring together aspiring filmmakers, writers, actors, and anyone who wants to tell stories. We want it to become a space where people meet, collaborate, and create together.
This whole journey has taught me to be more disciplined and organised. But most importantly, it has taught me to listen. Talking to so many people has shown me that we all go through similar things — struggles, dreams, failures, wins.”
