“I’ve been selling kids’ clothes near Charminar for the past seven years. I set up where there’s space and move around when needed. Some days go well, some don’t, but I come back the next day and try again.
Before this, I was in Delhi, selling belts and bags. I came to Hyderabad because I feel more comfortable here. People talk nicely. Even if they don’t buy anything, they speak politely. That makes a big difference when you’re standing all day.
My wife and kids live in our village. I stay here alone. I miss them, but I’m saving so I can bring them here one day. I want my children to study well and live better. That’s the main thing that keeps me going.
The other vendors here are like my own extended family. We help each other when someone is unwell or facing trouble. We lend change, share lunch, watch each other’s spots. We all know this life is not easy, so we try to make it a little easier for each other.
Of course, there are fights too—over space, over rules—but we always come back and talk it out. We know we’re all here for the same reason. To earn, to live, to support our families.
Every day may not be the same, but every day gives me hope. As long as I’m standing here and trying, I know I’m moving forward.”
