Hyderabad came together today for one of its most awaited moments — the immersion of the Khairatabad Bada Ganesh at Hussain Sagar.

The 69-foot Sri Vishwashanthi Mahashakti Ganapathi idol, which stood in Khairatabad for the past 11 days, began its procession in the morning. With chants of ‘Ganapathi Bappa Morya’, thousands lined the streets to watch. The idol moved slowly under heavy security before reaching Hussain Sagar, where the immersion took place with prayers.

On September 6, 2025, the city worked in unison to make this possible. Nearly 30,000 police personnel from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda were on duty. CCTV cameras, control centres, and monitoring from high-rise buildings kept the processions under watch.

The GHMC deployed cranes, boats with Disaster Response Force teams, and over 14,000 sanitation workers at immersion points. With 20 lakes and 72 artificial ponds ready, the scale of the arrangements showed the city’s preparation.

From neighbourhood pandals to processions like Balapur and the old city, thousands of idols also made their way to immersion sites. Traffic diversions kept routes clear, and with the cooperation of the Ganesh Utsav Samithi, the celebrations went ahead without DJs, keeping the focus on devotion.
For Hyderabad, the Khairatabad Ganesh immersion is never just about one idol. It is about the city coming together in prayer, discipline, and community spirit.
