“Every Sankranthi break, my father buys kites and new clothes for me and my brother. It’s the festival we look forward to the most, and we come to the kite festival every year. My brother always picks Cartoon character kites, but my dad still chooses the simple paper ones he grew up with.
He always reminds us to be careful while flying them. Last year we understood why — we saw how birds were getting injured because of nylon manja. So this year, we decided not to use manja at all.
One day, I want to become a pilot and fly across the world… maybe even higher than all the kites in the sky.”
