“The Jouzi Halwa recipe we make isn’t just a sweet; it’s a living part of Hyderabad’s history. Our journey started nearly 125 years ago, when my great-grandfather, Mohammed Hussain Sahab, set up a sweet shop in a remote location in Hyderabad. He was just a young boy at the time, simply wanting to serve a variety of unique confectioneries and desserts—making it what is claimed to be the very first sweet shop in the city.
Soon enough, word of his craft spread, eventually reaching the Nizam, who came to taste the sweets at the shop itself. It did not take him long to choose the Jouzi Halwa as his absolute favorite, and in a moment of pure merriment, he announced that the shop should be named after the last Turkish king, Hameedi. That is how Hameedi Confectioners came to be known.

But more than the royal history, what has kept us standing all these decades is the people of Hyderabad. This city has a certain warmth, a mehmaan-nawazi (hospitality) that you won’t find anywhere else. Hyderabadi people don’t just eat food; they celebrate it, and they share it with so much love. Whether it’s an old customer coming in for their childhood favorite or someone stopping by just to chat over a sweet, it’s that shared affection that connects us.

Today, while our roots remain deeply tied to Mozamjahi Market, we have grown alongside the city and expanded with branches across Hyderabad to stay close to our patrons. Wherever we are, we still stand as the number one choice for the finest quality sweets, preserving traditional heritage masterpieces like Saffron Ashrafi, Badam ki Jaali, Motichur Ke Ladoo, Chandi Ke Ashrafi, Puran Puri, Pure Ghee Balushahi, Khowa Puri, Buena Peda, and Halwa Sohan Tikki. Generations have passed and the lanes of the city have changed, but our bond with the people remains exactly the same. Every time we hand over a box of sweets, it feels like we are sharing a piece of Hyderabad’s rich culture, originality, and loving soul.”
