“I have always been interested in fashion, modelling and acting right from my growing up years. Initially, when I discussed it with my parents and extended family, they were a little hesitant, however, with my gradual progress in the industry, I was able to gain their confidence.
It’s definitely not easy in this field, especially modelling, as it is very different from acting and one should constantly work on the body and looks. I was a little chubby and short when I started my modelling career. I also got rejected for quite a few modelling assignments initially as they usually take models with a height of 5’5 and above. I still remember this incident in college when I wanted to audition for Femina Miss India but couldn’t even fill out the form only because their height criteria was 5’5 and above. My height is 5‘4“.
In the acting field, people are very accepting of who you are and how you look. All they care about is if one could fit into your character and that’s what matters the most.
After my class 12, I did my graduation in English Honours from Lady Shri Ram College For Women.
So when I was in college I was into modelling and I still remember I used to skip classes to go to my dance practices. I also started giving my movie auditions and in the due process, I came across a Telugu film named ‘Sakini Dakini’ where they were looking out for a girl who was very young and innocent looking. I just happen to fall in the right age group, and I fit the character well. It was indeed a wonderful experience to share the screen space with Regina Cassandra and Nivetha Thomas.
Being a GenZ-er, I would consider myself a very practical person. I do follow my heart, but at the same time, I take very practical decisions. I feel one should understand what is working out for them from a very young age. I would tell all the young people that be a little practical and understanding about what their capabilities are. Be choosy but also a bit mature at the beginning of your career, take whatever you get because you never know what works out for you and I think that is the way of life and that is the way to succeed and grow in life according to me.”
