“I have always had my interest inclined towards gardening since my childhood. I remember spending hours in the garden with my grandmom and emulate everything she used to do. This was one of the reasons, I was motivated to start Make Me Garden. I was in my first year of college when I met Suraj. I remember approaching him with an idea for a pitch and he said ‘I am busy, can you come back later.’ When I had shared the pitch to him for the first time, he immediately rushed back to his desk and came back to me excited.

Coming from different educational backgrounds, I believe business is what brought all the three of us together. We wanted to contribute something for a better, greener, and healthier environment. We started ‘Make Me Garden’ during the second year of college. We began to hire interns from our batch who were willing to be part of a good cause. Attending classes and managing a company at the same time turned us into multi-taskers I must say. 

We believe, the personal touch that we have with our customers is what makes us who we are today. I remember, our first terrace garden installation kit was brought by Suraj’s grandmom, who we call ‘ Mamu’ haha. She asked us for the biggest kit and paid us through a cheque. Our hearts smiled seeing the love and blessing she showered on all of us. Another experience that made us feel like a family of gardeners was when we had a terrace garden installation at one of Suraj’s friend’s place. We were so happy to see every member of the family getting involved during the process. Experiences like these certainly push us to do something more for the environment with our fellow gardeners. 

It is not just our company that has evolved but our friendship and partnership too. We make the best of our strengths. We do have our differences but I believe communication and understanding sorts out everything and puts things into place.”
