“Hi! My name is Poojitha and my brother’s name is Manideep. Every year, during Teacher’s Day, we would enjoy a lot by having various cultural programs and fun classes. We would imitate our teachers and play a lot of games in the class. We also pool in our pocket-money and gift our teachers to honour them.
But this year, we are unable to go to school to celebrate this day because Covid-19 situation. Our school has been shut for more than six months now and we recently got to know that we will be having online classes soon.
But what can we do? We don’t have a smartphone or a laptop apart from a television set at home. Even our TV is not working properly.
Our father runs a tent house and our mother is a homemaker. My father’s business is affected badly because there are no weddings or functions these days. Due to the pandemic, we are unable to go anywhere.
We study in a local private school and we are not sure when the regular academic session is going to start.
My brother will be going to class 2 and I will be going to class 5 this academic year.
We learned that the state government has launched the e-learning program for the students by conducting classes online and also through telecasts on T-SAT and DD Yadagiri Telangana. It’s something new and interesting at the same time. We tried to tune-in to understand what’s happening but we are unable to get access to the programs because of the issues with our TV at home. We also want to study like others and hope we find some source of learning soon.
Currently, we are staying at our grandparent’s house and we really miss our teachers, friends, and school a lot.
Especially those loud greetings of Gooooooooood Morning/ Afternoon Teacher before every period.
We just want to wish Happy Teacher’s day to all the teachers in our country!”
