“The toughest test that life has put me through was losing my father to excessive drinking at the age of eleven. Ever since then, my mother has been my pillar of support. She started a small Kirana store at the corner of our house and educated me with the money she earned through that. After completing my secondary education, I got married at the age of eighteen and was blessed with a girl when I was nineteen. I am blessed to have a husband who has always been supportive. In fact, with his motivation, I completed my Degree in Human Resources Management, and presently, I am pursuing my Post Graduation in the same from Kakatiya University.
My interest in tailoring magnified while I was pursuing intermediate and chose to take up tailoring classes thereafter. I mastered various skills like hand-work, designing, mix-match apart from just stitching. Later, with the little money I had, I started a tailoring business in my grandma’s house. Things took a turn when we had volunteers from We Hub visit the municipal office in our village and conduct a workshop. That is when I educated myself about private investors and how I can start a business of my own. I took a loan of Rs. 4 lakhs from a private investor and now I own a design studio where we stitch and design custom-made sarees. Not only that, but I am also able to employ ten people from our village.
Now when I look back at my life, I know my journey has not only helped me lead an independent life but has motivated others too. I have a lot of my relatives come to me for guidance in starting their own business. Amongst all of this, the proudest moment was when I read my name in one of inter second’s commerce textbooks. My journey was taken as a case study for a Village Entrepreneur. Each one of us is blessed with skills, all we need to do is master them irrespective of the surroundings we are present in.
